CAR ACCIDENT: Woman Killed after a Tree Fell on Her Car Roof

Costa Mesa- A female driver died after a 50 foot eucalyptus tree fell on her car at Irvine Avenue and 17th Street on Thursday.
According to reports, the woman was waiting for the green light when the tree collapsed on her 2002 Hyundai Accent GS. The impact caused critical injuries to driver.
Police officers and firefighters arrived at the scene and pulled the tree out of the car. Paramedics pronounced the driver dead minutes during the rescue.
Witnesses commented that the woman was still breathing and talking shortly after the tree fell. While the rescuers were pulling the tree, it dropped back onto the car. Rescuers clarified that the second fall did not come in contact with the driver.
Police asked bystanders to avoid the area as the trees may not be stable. Authorities are still investigating the details on the cause of accident.
