CAR ACCIDENT: Winters Man Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash
January 18, 2011
Woodland - A resident of Winters was injured after a hit-and-run crash in County Road on Monday.
Jose Rodriguez, 44 years old, was driving his Honda Accord on County Road 31 when a speeding Acura Integra crashed onto his car. On the other hand, the Acura driver, Jose Vargas, 21 years old, was driving at 65 to 70 miles per hour and exceeded the blood alcohol (BAC) limit of 0.08 percent, California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers said.
According to CHP reports, Rodriguez suffered neck and back injuries and was transported to Sutter Health Davis.
Vargas continued to drive a mile on County Road 31 after the crash, stopping periodically to fix his car. He failed to provide his contact information to the victim and call paramedics for help. CHP officers arrested Vargas for speeding, driving under influence (DUI), and hit-and-run charges.
Authorities are still investigating details on the cause of accident.
