CAR COLLISION: Vehicle passengers injured in collision

Encinitas – Several people were injured Thursday night after an SUV smashed into a pickup truck along South El Camino Real in Encinitas, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to Sgt. Darrell Strohl, the truck was stopped by a traffic light in the southbound lane of 100 block of South El Camino Real at about 10:24 p.m. when it turned against the traffic signal.
Meanwhile, the driver of an approaching Lincoln Navigator in the northbound lane failed to avoid the collision with the turning truck.
The drivers and passengers of both vehicles were taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
The vehicle accident is still under investigation.
