ROLLOVER ACCIDENT: Two Children, Adult Injured After Rollover on Route 58

April 6, 2011

Bakersfield – At least two children were seriously injured after a Tuesday afternoon car crash ejected them out of the vehicle, the California Highway Patrol said.

The accident happened around 5 pm when a Ford Explorer headed west on Route 58 drifted onto the center divider, overcorrected, and overturned.

The 3-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl that were ejected were severely injured. Officers said that both children were not in a proper car seat.

Aside from the two children, a 7-year-old and three adults were also in the SUV. They were stuck inside the overturned vehicle and had to be taken out using the Jaws of Life. One of the adults was airlifted to a hospital.

The conditions of the other injured passengers are not yet known.
