November 24, 2010
Carmichael – A 16-year-old boy fleeing from authorities collided into a vehicle and killed one of its occupants in Carmichael Tuesday night, the California Highway Patrol said.
Authorities spotted the unidentified teen speeding in a sports utility vehicle (SUV) along Manzanita Avenue around 9 pm and tried to pull him over but the teen sped away when authorities turned on their sirens. He was said to be going more than twice the speed limit imposed in the area.
The teen then ran a red light along Coyle Avenue and hit a Saturn occupied by a woman who was fatally wounded.
The 27-year-old passenger of the Saturn was brought to a hospital where she later died. The driver of the Saturn was released from the hospital the same night.
Charges are expected to be filed against the teen driver.
