SOLO CAR ACCIDENT: Sedan Driver seriously injured in Highway 24 crash

Orinda –A driver suffered major injuries and was hospitalized Tuesday morning after his car crashed outside the Caldecott Tunnel, the California Highway Patrol said.
According to reports, the driver was driving a sedan along Highway 24 near Fist Ranch Road at about 10 a.m. when it swerved and hit the center divider. The driver, whose name was not identified immediately, was trapped inside the wreck, and suffered from serious injuries.
Firefighters needed to use the Jaws of Life to pry open the vehicle and save the victim.
The driver was brought to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment. An officer said the driver is expected to survive in spite of his injuries.
