VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Pickup Truck Passenger Dies after Vehicle Crashes into Tree in Fresno

May 30, 2011

Fresno- A male pickup truck passenger has died after the vehicle slammed into a tree in Coalinga, said California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers.

Reports said Oscar Gervacio, 22, from Avenal, was riding a Toyota Tundra being driven by a Coalinga man identified as Clint Roderick, 43. The pickup truck was moving along El Dorado Avenue when it suddenly veered off the road, causing it to crash into a pistachio tree.

The passenger, who was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident, was ejected from the vehicle due to the impact. He died at the accident area.

Meanwhile, the driver was rushed to Central Valley Regional Hospital to be treated for major injuries, said authorities.

Police officers have not yet determined how fast the pickup truck was moving when the incident occurred.
