CAR ACCIDENTS: New Federal Survey Shows Drop in Fatal Crashes involving Teens
October 21, 2010
Atlanta, Georgia – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has noted a decrease of about one-third in the number of fatal car crashes involving teen drivers after receiving reports that the number of teen deaths dropped dramatically from about 2,200 to only 1,400 in May 2008, reports said.
The agency said several factors might explain the improvement in the number. The agency said one of the reasons for this may include safer cars and tough state laws, especially driver’s license laws.
According to the survey, fatality rate among teen drivers has continued to drop since 1996.
The survey also showed Wyoming as the state with the highest death rate while New Jersey and New York have the lowest number.
