CAR ACCIDENT: Hollywood Singer Jewel and Baby 'safe' After Car Crash

March 14, 2011

Los Angeles – Authorities have declared Singer Jewel Kilcher and her baby safe and unharmed after a fire truck broadsided her SUV in Stephenville, Texas on Friday, reports said.

The 36-year-old Hollywood icon was traversing the intersection at Stephenville when a volunteer fire truck swerved and hit her Cadillac SRX. Pregnant Jewel was rushed to a local hospital, but was found in safe condition, according to reports.

Reports said that Erath County Commissioner Jim Pack was driving the fire truck to respond to a local grass fire. He had the truck's lights and siren on as he approached the intersection, but broadsided Jewel's SUV. The acclaimed singer-actress complained of minor pain after the accident.

Jewel, her real name as Nicole Perez-Krueger, has received four Grammy Award nominations for Best New Female Artist and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance since 1997. She rose to prominence when her single, "Who Will Save Your Soul" hit the Billboard's chart in 1995.

She also ventured into various roles as guitarist, songwriter, and actress. She has been married to Rodeo Champion Ty Murray.
