PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT: High School Girls Struck by Car while Crossing; One Dead

Arcadia – A teenage girl died, and another was injured, Sunday night after they were struck by a car while trying to cross Duarte Road, authorities said.
The vehicle was traveling westbound in the 600 block of Duarte Road when the accident happened at about 6:40 pm. The fatality was identified by the Los Angeles Coroner's Office as Alice Zhang, a junior at Arcadia High School.
The other 16-year-old girl who is still unnamed suffered serious injuries and was treated at the scene. She was later taken to a nearby hospital, according to Lt. Bob Anderson of the Arcadia Police Department.
The 20-year-old man who was driving the vehicle that struck the two girls was not arrested, as the cause of the accident is still being investigated by the Arcadia Police’s Major Accident Investigation Team.
