CAR ACCIDENT: Giants' Baseball Pitcher Barry Zito Injured in LA Car Crash

March 31, 2011

Los Angeles - Giants' left-handed pitcher Barry Zito set an MRI examination Thursday after his car collided with another vehicle at West Hollywood, reports said.

The San Francisco pitcher complained of neck and upper body pain the morning after his car accident at Sunset Boulevard intersection. Zito arranged for an MRI examination at Cedars-Sinai Hospital today, according to reports.

Reports said that Zito's car was heading the intersection of Sunset Plaza Drive and Sunset Boulevard when another car ran the red light and broadsided his vehicle. Rescuers arrived and rushed him to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Wednesday evening.

The Giants has an opening game against Los Angeles Dodgers today in Dodger Stadium at 8 p.m. Zito, who is a Cy Young Award recipient, is expected to pitch at the weekend games.
