Car Accident: Driver dies in rollover vehicle accident

Salinas - A 29-year-old driver suffered fatal injuries Sunday evening when the vehicle he was driving veered off Highway 101 and rolled over in a field in Salinas, the California Highway Patrol said.
Santiago Garcia-Martinez was driving his 1997 Ford Explorer along Highway 101 near Market Street at around 8:50 p.m. when the car swerved east of the road and landed in the field where it rolled over.
According to initial investigation, Martinez was driving at a high speed and was not wearing his seatbelt when the accident happened. He was extricated by firefighters from the wreck and was taken to Natividad Medical Center where he was declared dead.
The authorities are still trying to determine if alcohol was a factor in the car crash.
