CAR ACCIDENT: Driver dies in solo car crash

July 9, 2010

Red Bluff – A man died Friday afternoon after the pickup truck he was driving veered off Rancho Tehama Road near Gallatin Road and struck a power pole in Tehama County, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The driver, whose name was not identified, was ejected from the vehicle and immediately died at the scene. Police said he was not wearing his seatbelt.

According to CHP spokesperson Phillip Mackintosh, the driver was heading west on Rancho Tehama Road at about 11:40 a.m. when he lost control of the pickup which swerved off the road’s north side.

He managed to maneuver the vehicle back on the road, but again, it went off the road and hit a power pole, Mackintosh said.

Details about the accident are still under investigation.
