CAR CRASH: DHS woman dies after crashing car onto utility pole

November 3, 2010

Desert Hot Springs – A Desert Hot Springs native was killed Wednesday morning when her sedan smashed onto a utility pole, the California Highway Patrol said. The accident occurred on North Indian Canyon Drive near 13th Avenue around 3 am.

Reports said Giselle Y. Phillips, 25, was driving about 80 miles per hour when for unknown reasons her Cadillac drifted across lanes and entered into the dirt shoulder area. It then overturned and crashed onto a Southern California Edison pole.

According to the police, Phillips was not wearing a seatbelt when the accident happened and she was the lone occupant of the car. Alcohol or drugs were not a contributing factor either. North Indian Canyon Drive was closed for about three hours because of the crash.
