PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT: Crash leaves girl injured, mother dead

Acton – A woman was killed, while a girl remains in critical condition, after being struck by a vehicle Monday evening, authorities said.

The incident, which happened on Antelope Woods Road near Crown Valley Road and Antelope Valley Freeway (14), was reported at 8:13 pm.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Missy Durnell, 43, and her two daughters were walking south on Antelope Woods when a silver Toyota Scion xB hit Durnell and her 9-year-old daughter.

Angela Hubb, 22, the driver of the Scion, stopped and reported the crash. She was not arrested but the vehicle was impounded for evidence, CHP Officer Patrick Kimball said.

Durnell was sent to Antelope Valley Hospital in Lancaster where she was later pronounced dead. The girl was flown to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles. The other daughter was not injured.
