CAR CRASH: Couple badly hurt in car accident in Shelby Cobra

Newport Beach – A married couple was hospitalized Sunday evening when their sports car ran off the highway and smashed into a wall, police reports said.
Sixty-year-old Gregory Lance Helms, and his wife Debbie Helms, 54, were driving along Jamboree road near Bayside at about 8:20 p.m. when their 1965 Ford Shelby Cobra 427 S/C replica veered off the driveway and hit a wall.
Gregory Helms, who was behind the wheel, sustained severe head injuries, while his wife suffered serious internal wounds. They were brought to Western Medical Center for treatment.
Alcohol may have been a factor in the accident, investigators said.
According to reports, the Helmses often display their vehicle at local car shows.
