CHAIN ACCIDENT: Chain Crash injures CHP Officer

April 26, 2011

Sacramento– A CHP officer assisting a stranded motorist was injured after a chain crash in West Sacramento Monday afternoon, authorities said.

The 32-year-old CHP officer was reportedly travelling along the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 around 5pm when he noticed a stranded motorist in the center median near Enterprise Boulevard and started to reverse towards him.

Meanwhile, a 44-year-old driver on the east lane noticed the officer slowly backing up and so he reduced his speed to accommodate the approaching vehicle.

Unfortunately, a 28-year-old female driving behind him failed to notice the slowing down of traffic and so she hit the back of his vehicle.

The injuries to the officer’s arms did not necessitate medical treatment. No other injuries were reported in the crash.
