CHP Investigating Red Light Violation that Caused Fatal Collision

Sacramento – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating which car ran a red light that caused a fatal car crash in Sacramento yesterday.

The collision killed Monica Colton, 36 and injured Kym Goodman, 49, who were both Sacramento residents.

According to the CHP, the car accident occurred at about 12:45 am when the cars driven by Colton and Goodman collided at the intersection of Madison Avenue and Auburn Boulevard.

Colton was going westbound on Madison Avenue when she collided with Goodman who was turning right onto Auburn Boulevard from the eastbound lane.

Goodman’s vehicle caught fire after the crash and passersby rushed to pull him out of the wreckage.

She was brought to Mercy San Juan Medical Center after complaining of pain in her chest and leg.

Colton was pronounced dead on the scene.
