CAR ACCIDENT: 84-year-old Rancher Killed in Car Rollover Crash
July 7,2011
Petaluma - An elderly rancher died after his car overturned and fell on a 30-foot embankment on June 29.
According to reports, Ralph Giacomini was a passenger in a family car when his daughter fell asleep on the wheels and caused the vehicle to swerve. The car veered into the opposite lane and rolled down the embankment.
Ann Philips, 51, was able to get her head above water, but had difficulty helping his father. Ralph eventually succumbed to drowning, reports said.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers said the collision on the narrow embankment caused the vehicle's door to wedge shut, trapping the two people. Paramedics transported Ann to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
