CAR ACCIDENT: 78-year-old driver injured in Mok Hill car crash

Mokelumne Hill – A driver suffered severe injuries Thursday when the pickup truck he was driving veered off the road and fell on an embankment in Mokelumne Hill, the Highway Patrol said.
Robert Carpenter, 78, of Glencoe was heading west on Highway 26 in his 1998 Dodge Dakota when he lost control of the pickup truck, which swerved to the left side of the road.
According to authorities, the pickup fell down a steep bank and turned over. Other factors that may have contributed to the accident are being investigated.
Carpenter was brought to Mercy San Joan Medical Center in Sacramento for treatment. He was declared in fair condition today.
