Montebello – A 33-year-old Whittier man is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail at a Montebello jail after he was booked for felony drunk driving, authorities said.

The man was identified as Lester Enrique Chupina.

According to reports, the car accident occurred at about 12:59am when Chupina lost control of his vehicle while speeding in the 2300 block of Whittier Boulevard.

The car then hit an electric pole and some trees before making a stop.

Two passengers were injured in the accident.

Both were taken to Los Angeles County USC Medical Center.
