CAR COLLISION: 2 Hurt in Police Chase Car Crash

Watsonville, CA – At least two people suffered moderate injuries Monday morning when a car pursued by officers crashed into another vehicle in Watsonville, authorities said.
According to reports, Monterey County officers were in pursuit of a 1997 Acura around 11:40 am Monday when it collided with another car, injuring its 21-year-old Watsonville driver.
The driver of the Acura, 24-year-old Damien Baxter of Gilroy was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. He was then booked into Monterey County Jail on suspicion of hit-and-run and possession of a stolen vehicle.
The chase began when authorities spotted Baxter getting into a stolen vehicle. He refused to pull over when signaled by officers. The pursuit, which occurred on residential streets, reached speeds of up to 60 mph.
